Testing post for indexing

I've been running forums since the XenForo 1.x days, and something changed in 2026 that a lot of new admins are hitting:

New forum + new domain = Google ignores you for weeks, not hours.

I tested this across three setups this week:

- A static HTML page on a fresh domain

- A XenForo install on a fresh domain

- An IPS 4 install on a subdomain of the same domain

All three submitted to Search Console the same day. All three requested indexing manually. All three showed "URL is not on Google" after 24 hours.

That's not a bug. That's the new normal.

### What's actually going on

Google's crawl priority is tied to domain authority, not to your sitemap or manual submission. A brand-new domain has zero authority. Manual submission adds you to a queue — it doesn't skip it.

The three status messages you'll see in Search Console mean different things:

- "Discovered – currently not indexed" → Google knows the URL. It just hasn't crawled it. This is an authority/crawl-budget issue, not a content issue.

- "Crawled – currently not indexed" → Google read it and declined. This is a quality or duplication issue.

- "Excluded by noindex" → Your config is blocking Google. Check your SEO settings.

### What actually works

1. Publish consistently for 30+ days. Google needs to see the site is alive.

2. Get 2–3 real backlinks. Not directories. Sites where people actually read.

3. Cut crawl waste. Noindex member profiles, search pages, and login pages.

4. Reduce sitemap size if you're on a new domain. Google doesn't need 50,000 URLs from a site it doesn't trust yet.

5. Stop switching platforms. Every migration resets your domain's trust signals.

### What doesn't work

- Resubmitting the same URL daily

- Launching new domains every time one doesn't index

- Switching from XenForo to IPS hoping the script is the problem

The script is almost never the problem. The domain's age and authority are.
